I’ve had this song on my list for about 2 months and have continued to avoid it because I just had to put up this song or that song instead. When is it Billy’s turn? Now. The song Billy Don’t Be A Hero is a special little number that seems to be a cover of a song of the same name by Paper Lace, the group behind previous poor 70s track, The Night Chicago Died . Anywho, this version became popular in American while Paper Lace’s less quality number did in The UK.
About the song itself, it’s some sentimental pap smear about some dude who goes off to war and dies and it’s like anti-war or something maybe. The lyrics are silly, but I dig it just the same. Please to listen.
In my Beyond the Valley of the Doll searching, I came upon a clip that is fucking nuts. That lesbian bitch, Roxanne from BTVOTD is back, in a movie called Vixen which from what I can tell is about fish dancing. I remember the first time I seduced by a woman dancing with a fish. Pure sex.
I just heard this song on the radio on the ride to work this morning and I dig it. Jigsaw is a pretty shitty band name and the song itself is pure cheese, but fuck that, listen to the falsetto. Please also to look at the wiener singer in this amazing video. Let me tell you, that plane landing was NOT stock footage. Also, those people are actually that pink. That is NOT because of shitty filming. Finally, please to check out the couple at 1:50. I want to be that couple. Dazed look, yellow turtleneck. That is what clubbing is all about.
I know I have heard this song before. About a dozen times. “Stumblin In” has been passed up in popularity ages ago and can only be heard on the 70s on 7 on Sirius/XM. It’s a bit nice and a bit cheese, but it’s something different and you can’t dance to it. Suzi Quatro (yes her last name is 4 in Spanish) supposedly has sold 45 million records but I don’t know a damn person who owns one and I didn’t even know her name until a week ago. 45 million don’t mean a damn thing, FOUR! Also, I’ve been told by the magic of the internet that she is “the den mother of motorcycle music”, as if that’s a real thing. I’m the grandfather of horseback riding music just so you know.
Some dude sings on this album, by the way, but who really cares?
Two weeks ago, I put up a clip for Baby It’s You as covered by the band Smith. I promised to feature the lead, Gayle McCormick’s 70s solo work and today, for once, I have followed up on a promise. It’s A Crying Shame is a lot dancier than the former song, but it’s still a bit of fun, so it’s allowed to appear here. The Grass Roots, a band I mentioned a year or so ago did a cover of it some time later. Here is the original and still champion and a poor lost 70’s hit.
A bit slower and a lot Dusty Springfield/Karen Carpenter, Gonna Be Alright Now also comes from the debut album and it showcases her voice a lot better, but is a bit cheesy in it’s cliched post love blah blah strongness.
You know how you have heard about 1 billion songs in your life but forget that they exist? Well here is my continued bit called Poor 70s where we hear those songs that the oldies and the classic rock and the 80s stations miss. I feel sad for them. This song is entitled “The Night Chicago Died” and it’s by someone, Paper Lace? I guess this song is about the police vs. the mob or something when some shit went to hell back in the day. Al Capone. Didn’t he not get in a huge fight with the police? Or didn’t he do something involved in the St. Valentines Day Massacre? I have no idea. Too much thinking about history, but listen now. Why do i think about potatoes when i hear this song?
I was just having my hot dogs in Five Guys when this song came upon the radio. I know it is a cover, but this version is past perfection so suck it. Smith is one of those one hit wonders who only had a cover as a hit. Gayle McCormick has one of the greatest voices ever in this sex filled world (wha?) and she went on to a moderately successful solo career (see the poor 70s later for some of that). To sum things up, what the hell is Good Life TV Network?
Also, I’m jealous of this bitches hair. How does she get it so silky?
The Holidays and the snow have ruined me once again. Life is too busy. I’m sneaking in a few more awards before i reveal the winners on the first. Be sure to check for Best Gay, Best Brit, Best Movie, and Best Concert. Meanwhile, I am starting a new bit entitled “I Forgot About That 70s Song.” The following is “Fox On The Run”, by Sweet, some gay ass looking band. Look at all of the pretty girl hair.
